December 2025 ⚠️ Sri Lanka Travel Update
Important information regarding your booked round tour with us for December & January.
You have already received this information by e-mail, however I am writing it here also and will keep it updated this month.
We’re keeping a close eye on the situation in Sri Lanka and are working continuously to ensure that all upcoming tours run as safely and smoothly as possible.
Sri Lanka is, sadly, no stranger to crises, so the incredible local response teams are already hard at work with repairs, rebuilding and landslide prevention. Thanks to their efforts, conditions are improving rapidly.
What’s the situation right now?
🚗🚂 Road and Rail access:
All major roads to the main tourist destinations are open, which means your tour can operate almost exactly as planned.
However, railway lines in the hill country are still closed, and they are expected to remain so throughout December and January.
👉 This means all scheduled train journeys will be replaced with comfortable car transfers.
For most travellers, this will be the only change to the itinerary.
🏨 Hotel updates
A few hotels in Dambulla, Nuwara Eliya and Kandy will be replaced with similar, suitable alternatives. We’re selecting the best available options to maintain comfort and quality.
📲 Your itinerary will be updated
As a guest with a booked tour, you have access to your itinerary both in the web version and in the app. Over the next few days, we’ll update each affected itinerary.
You’ll receive a new link once all changes have been added, including notes like this example:

We’ll continue to evaluate the situation, and while more small adjustments may be necessary, you can rest assured that every update will be made with safety in mind.

🚐 While travelling with our driver
If any changes arise during your tour, these will be handled directly with your driver. Our drivers check the safest routes every single day and will adjust plans if necessary.

The situation in Hikkaduwa
🌴 The south coast remains safe and fully operational.
We have sunshine, calm beaches, and normal transport to and from the airport.
Here in Hikkaduwa, we have been incredibly lucky 🙏 and were hardly affected by the events in the highlands. In the coming weeks, you can expect typical December weather: sunny days, calm waves, and occasional evening showers – just like normal.
Everything is in place for a wonderful holiday!
